One cannot talk about the Fondation pour Genève without talking about Geneva, a city with a unique composition and an exceptional destiny. How can this be?

It must be Geneva’s traditions of welcome and exchanges that made it the heir of the thought and actions of men and women who, over generations, left their mark on the History of Geneva and gave it this much envied world reputation.

Geneva is now a metropolis with an international agenda. All countries are represented there alongside the major international organisations and numerous multinational companies. Aside from them, famed researchers, international experts and leading individuals often meet here. All ideas mix and all nationalities meet.

It is thus not a surprise that in this context the members of the Fondation pour Genève share a common will: strengthen the international position of Geneva and highlight its assets.

Who are these men and women of goodwill who work tirelessly for Geneva’s reputation? They are inhabitants of Geneva who are proud to welcome on their territory this wonderful international expertise. They have no other legitimacy than that to believe that it is their duty and responsibility to participate, alongside the authorities and the other instances, with upholding these traditions and values that have always been at the heart of Geneva’s spirit of openness.

The spiritual fathers of the Fondation pour Genève showed us the way. Now, after 30 years of existence, each president who steps up to the challenge brings a new impulse.
