Activities

The Diplomatic Club of Geneva offers its members a variety of meetings whether intellectual exchanges centred around exceptional individuals of international fame, events that favour the discovery of Geneva and its region’s centres of international competence invitations to local events, or leisure, be it sporting competitions or outings in Switzerland. All the Club’s activities aim to promote Geneva’s international signature and the networking of its actors.

Pascal Lamy calls for strengthened system of global governance

Director-General Pascal Lamy, in a speech to the Diplomatic Club of Geneva on 15 March 2010, said that "today, globalization has become a major challenge to our democracies, and our systems of governance must confront this challenge". He said the economic crisis has accelerated the transformation of global governance into what he called the "triangle of coherence", consisting of the G20, the intergovernmental organizations, and the United Nations. This is what he said:
